Course Content:

  • Principle of Virtual Work
  • Minimization of Potential Energy
  • First Variation of Single/double/triple integrals to get the governing equations
  • Lagrangian formulation for motion
  • Using energy principles to solve different problems starting from general rigid bodies to deformable structures

Motivation to take up the course: This is a very powerful technique used for various types of structural problems

General funda: Chill course, can be learnt by enjoying it, not much time commitment provided that you are up to date with daily concepts

Professor’s Teaching Style: Prof is chill, teaches well, easy and direct to follow and understand, classes will only go for 30 min or so and rest for discussion if any
